Woah! Home at last. What a long journey. Are ya ready for my (tentatively) LONGEST entry ever? Here goes...
Morning, went to open shop. Nothing interesting happened. The fire alarm rang though. There was an announcement, which goes "Ladies and gentlemen, the fire alarm was set off just now. We are investigating the cause. Please remain calm and wait for further instructions". In the end it was a false alarm.
One person with one familiar face came in. She was the customer i served a few days ago before CNY. She was looking for her earring. "Oops" I thought. I replied by asking her how it looks like. She gave me the description. Double Oops. I saw it the other day and kept it in the drawer. The next day i found it unhygenic and threw it away. So I said no. I feel so guilty and convicted. Disappointed, she left. I hope she won't go around asking for her earring because i guess it has already been shredded to Bits and Pieces by Mr. Incinerator.
Today I spent my time packing all the plastic bags. I brought a self-burnt cd with my favourite songs in it to the shop, but it couldn't be read by the CD/DVD player. I guess the cd has too much scratches. Never mind. I am going to burn a new copy.
4.30pm. I punctually knocked off from work. Yay! I love this work shift. 11am-4.30pm. Since I had so much time on my hands, I decided to go to Hougang Mall. My main purpose was to check out the price of an item at Naff. There is a same article over here at Dano, and I want to check out which is cheaper. I decided to take the MRT to Hougang Mall to see how long it would take. So I went straight into the Tampines MRT station without a second thought. On the train platform I looked at the directions board, which says that i can change to North-East line at Outram Park station, and it will take 30mins. Wow. Whatever. I've already scanned in.
The train was extremely slow. I was so B-O-R-E-D. There was a guy standing by the door in some kind of pink uniform. He looks like a train attendant but shouldn't they be dressed in green? Anyway if he was he would catch me for drinking bubble tea on the train. Then there was an announcement, saying passengers who want to go to the Singapore Expo or Changi Arport should alight at Tanah Merah and change trains. It wasn't my business, so i didn't care.
The train arrived at Tanah Merah, and some passengers got off. What shocked me was that the pink man signalled and told all the passengers to get out of the train and board the oppostie train. Everyone was like rushing out of the train and boarding the opposite one. I thought he was referring to only some people and i sat there lke nobody's business. It took only a few minutes to clear out the train.(There was only a few people, ok?)
So I hopped on to the opposite train and changed to the North-East line at Outram Park. I could have saved a stop's fare by crossing over to North-South line at City Hall and then changing to North-East line at Dhoby Ghaut Station, but what the heck. Everyone was walking quickly from platform to the other. Then I saw one woman wobbling-walking. She was wearing heels(but still shorter than me) and was losing out as she couldn't walk fast enough.
When I sat there and looked at the map then I realised that I was at the second last station of the MRT line, just before Harbourfront. Oh my god. More waiting. Ok... At Dhoby Ghaut station, saw a NCHS girl enter the train. ALONE.
Finally, I arrived at the Hougang station. It was around 5.40pm by then. Woah. One full hour. Waste of time and MRT fare. What a stupid idea. Saw another victim of The Killer Stiletto.
By then my Old Chang Kee currypuff and chicken nuggets had already turned cold. And to think that there is another OCK outlet right outside the MRT Station. What the -TOOT-?!
Oh yes. To the management of MRT stations, please put some rubbish bins within the stations. I was holding my empty Sweetalk cup on the whole journey, from one train to another.
So I went to Naff and found out that Naff has it at $36.90, and Dano has it at $30.10 after a staff's discount of thirty percent. Great! Thereafter I went to the arcade. Played Time Crisis 4, but always got up from the hiding place at the wrong time. So I lost all the three lives before clearing Stage 1. Used to go beyond that. I played Daytona, got 27th for Expert game. Then I drove a Crazy Taxi, got a 'D' for earning 1200++ dollars. Next I went to Chamelon and bought a eyebrow pencil(for what? you ask.) After that just walked around and it was time to go home. It was aorund 6.25pm.
I intended to take a bus home, but fearing I would take the bus in the wrong direction towards some ulu ulu place, and being lazy to ask my mom about it, I decided to walk home. You know, try out how long it will take. This isn't my first time walking from one place to another without truely knowing where they are. There was once I led Tiffany blindly from AMK interchange to J8. We suceeded, though.
Hougang Mall to Seng Kang. Stepping out of Hougang Mall's main entrance into the Eternal Sunshine, I embarked on my (long) journey home. I thought it would help if I backtracked the route taken by my driver mom from my house to HG Mall.
Here are all the landmarks i saw on my way home.
1. Hougang Mall
2. Blocks and blocks of flats
As long as i saw '89' on the signs at the bus stops, I knew i was going the right way. Otherwise I followed the huge green signboards used by drivers.
3. Very long and big canal between some Rivervale Condo and Punggol Park
I realised a very long canal stretches across Hougang from Punggol Park up to HG Mall. Never noticed that before although I see it quite frequently.
Saw a NCHS teacher in a oversized tee and SHORT shorts.
4. Temples
5. Blocks and blocks of flats
I totally forgot about the whole stretch of flats along Rivervale Drive! Uh-oh. That means more walking. Closer to home though.
6. Rivervale Plaza (took a left turn)
7. Seng Kang Sec (took a right turn)
8. My block!
I reached home at 7pm. It didn't take as long as i had imagined it to be. It was a mean feat. ok? Maybe next time i will try walking from Tamipnes to Seng Kang. =)
I'm still in search for my nail glue remover and Hawthorn Balls. ;)
